This season the Pioneer comes to life with a unique graphic from Okan Uçkun.
New York based Turkish tattoo artist Okan Uçkun started out as an architect, only turning to tattooing to help cover the costs of expensive university materials. His work is incredibly distinct; a style he defines as "conceptual mathematics" where mathematics meets aesthetics. "I like designing complicated things [...] created in a totally minimalist structure." His work is the embodiment of our aesthetic - subtle, monochromatic combining bold geometric shapes with naturalistic subjects making this seasons Pioneer one of the most instinctive and natural collaborations we have ever done.
Our featured short film directed by Derek Kettela, captures the process behind Okan's design aesthetic and the inspiration that gave rise to this unique graphic.
