TL;DR - This product is absolutely huge.
I’d say 2/5 because whilst it’s advertised as a poncho, which it absolutely is, the description is letting this product down to truly describe the size of the product and what it could be used for.
My experience: I bought a S/M thinking it would be closer to like an oversized hoody size. I thought a poncho that would work well on say like a spring slushy day? baggy, gangsta, but not “massive” if you get what I mean? I was thinking “sweet, big hoody, with this on top, sweet winter/spring getup”
Unfortunately the S/M is absolutely massive. It’s basically a 3 person tent with sleeves. What I was hoping to get was more like the picture of the dude in the white pants with his back to us? (Endeavor: What size is that? The only reason I ask is because my S/M is sooo big that I’m actually starting to question how big the dude is in the picture? Is he a hulk?)
I thought sizing down would fix the “oversizing” and I honestly thought it was a bit of gamble buying that size. I thought it would turn out to be too small going to for the S/M. I was completely wrong. This product needs updating to say “outrageously sized”
Also because of the oversizing, it’s not just the body that’s oversized but the sleeves are absolutely huge as well. I think three of Andre the Giants arms could fit in the S/M size. We aren’t talking “guns” here we’re absolutely in the territory of missiles. Being a poncho it must work well in the rain however It’s so big that I think I could fit a hydroelectric plant in the poncho with me, lift my arms up and start collecting water and generating enough power to fulfill the energy needs of a small town.
In my opinion, this product would be better if it was sized to an oversized “baggy” hoody fit. When it says it can fit over jackets, it most certainly can and then some. It would fit over my jacket and your jacket if you were in the poncho with me. To put it into actual perspective I’m usually an Burton “AK” large. Like I’d get away with a medium however I go large so that it’s not tight, it’s got room to layer, I can put a down jacket underneath and still move and not feel or look like the Michelin man. This poncho is so big I think I could wear about 8-10 jackets on top of each other with a big Canada goose overcoat and this would still be “oversized” over all of that.
It’s just… weird… I can’t tell you who this product is for or what it’s trying to achieve; it’s far too big for actual snowboarding, far too big for a commute (unless you want the entire train you’re on to also be out of the elements) and whilst yes you could technically wear it camping in the rain, I’d say you would have better use of it being your actual tent.
It looks and feels as though it was constructed really well and this product line has potential. I love the idea of a lightweight waterproof baggy snowboarding spring layer. However because of the sizing of this product the only viable use that I can see for it currently is sneaking myself and 2 friends into the cinema.
